Don't you think it could be the other way around, and that's why it's a secret? I also studied literature, and while my university was very acceptant of different perspectives and sources, a friend studying at another university was pretty much told that she WOULD do her dissertation on Shakespeare, because anything ~avant-garde~ like, say, 21st-Century Lit, was way out of the field of reference for the supervisors, and they wouldn't help her if she tried.

Meanwhile I wrote mine based on a shitty fourth-gen fansub.
