But most of those other crimes have a specific reason (money and such). Rape doesn't. Rape has no purpose that can not be fulfilled in a less violating way.

Well, it's a specific type of physical assaults. Many physical assaults happen without a particular "reward" other than the act itself.

rape is worse because it takes something that's supposed to be good (sex) and corrupts it, it not only damages a victim in the moment but tarnishes what should be an enjoyable aspect of their lives- in some cases for the rest of their lives.
