What fandoms have you found have the highest ratio of wank content to reasonable content?

Personally, Welcome to Nightvale has a pretty high amount of wank for such a small fandom.

Sherlock has a lot of wank but they have a lot of reasonable content to make up for it.

Supernatural has a lot of wank. While they have a lot of reasonable content, their wank groups get into wank wars that take over reasonable people.

From what I've heard, Steve Universe has high wank levels but I don't know that for sure.

Yes, SPN always seemed the highest to me until recently just because of how bad the wanky stuff was. But I've discovered a fandom just as bad and with a higher ratio.

Steven Universe wank is comparatively infrequent, but incredibly concentrated. That is to say, I have rarely seen a fandom wank as hard and as vigorously as the parts of Steven Universe that wank.

The wank in the SPN fandom got seriously crazy sometimes, I tried to stick to my own little corner as best I could and it'd still find me.

Is WTNV really small? Because I remember back in the day when I still listened (around podcast 50 I think?) that it had a huge following on tumblr. Or at least that was my perception of it.

Steven Universe has some of the most vile wank.

But just scrolling through the tags for it, it's mostly just a lot of creative work. Fanart. Fic. There's a lot of theory videos. Gemsonas. So I don't think the wank is the highest of ratios.

I thought the Supernatural fandom was scary. But I've dipped my toe in the Sliders fandom. 90% of the fics are bashing the last three seasons, the non-original characters (particularly the female added in season 3 who gets slut shamed and whose alternates in fics often are offended at being called Maggie because it is a "slut's name"). The characters besides the first four are portrayed as evil or killed off in gruesome ways. There are fics that solely involve killing of the showrunner of the later seasons.

I really wanted fic. But there were so few non-bashing fics that I no longer want to wade myself in there.

I mean, I hate the later three seasons as much as the next fan. But holy crap the fandom is downright scary.

"Maggie" just makes me think of the baby on the Simpsons. Totally different association, there.

Homestuck seemed pretty bad. Also, fucking Dangan Ronpa what will all the "uwu cisphobia is bad" powerpoints and all the stupid debates about that one crossdressing male character actually being a trans girl or something.

I'm not really participating, but it's starting to sound like the Star Wars fandom is pretty wanky.

Star Wars has always been wanky, though, going as far back as the Han and Luke fen wars of the late 70's/early 80's. It's one of those things that goes in cycles, and it's a lot more prevalent with the new movie out right now.

Star Wars has always been pretty wanky. I think the ratio might be a bit higher now because you've got all movies fans vs. OT only vs. OT and VII fans vs. prequel only fans.

The My Little Pony fandom actually is as wanky as its reputation implies, though it's mitigated by the tendency of the most obnoxious posters to drive off less obnoxious posters until there's no one left to criticize them. WRPGs as a whole have wanky tendencies as well, especially from retro gamers who think good game design ended with the '90s. Undertale is starting to wank up as well, though it was civil for a surprisingly long time.

Star Wars, Transformers, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Pokemon... basically any long-running fandom has frequent wanks, though because they're so big, you can be involved in a certain pocket of it and be oblivious to big wankstorms going on around you.

Steven Universe is one of the worst, but as someone above said, it's highly concentrated and that shit (like the Zamii fiasco, which is going to be a major part of the fandom's legacy whether they want to acknowledge it or not) drowns everything else out, unfortunately.

My Little Pony goes without saying at this point, but it's died down a lot in the last year, year and a half. Same with Homestuck, too. But a good chunk of the HS fandom migrated after the Gigapause to the four winds.

BBC Sherlock also has a high ratio of wank to reasonable content.

Kingdom Hearts is another notable example, too, but I'd like to believe a lot of its more wanky fans have grown up over the last 10+ years since KH2 and all the wank it brought.

I keep reading this as "wank radio."

I think the answer is Doctor Who, just because it's so deeply, deeply embedded into the basic texture of the fandom. It might be less intense but it goes deeper, if you follow me.

Is that fandom really wanky? Back when I was in the fandom I saw more wank from non-fans than from the fandom itself.

This isn't in any particular order, just my personal experiences with fandoms. Also, just off the top of my head. I'm sure I forgot some big fandoms that I have experience with. Obviously huge fandoms can be very wanky (like Dragon Age, HP, or SPN) but are just SO big that the wank can't make up a significant portion of the content.

Most wank vs reasonable content:
1. Undertale
2. Nightvale
3. Steven Universe
4. Homestuck
5. Hetalia

Least wank vs. reasonable content:
1. MCU
2. Hannibal
3. Merlin
4. Assassin's Creed
5. Dishonored (I'm actually not sure there's ever been ANY wank in this fandom)

This is pretty accurate. BioWare fandoms are a special kind of Hell, but overall you don't hear much wank from video game fandoms in general anymore.

But Nintendo-based fandoms are pretty wanky, though. The only ones that I can recall that caused any sort of notable wank was the Linkle shit in Legend of Zelda, and Fire Emblem IF/Fates in general.
