OP of #16 (suicide warning)

(Anonymous) 2016-01-16 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
The artist whose Tumblr I found the #16 image on grew up in a relatively harsh religious context. There was a point in their life when they attempted suicide because they thought they would inevitably be damned for the things in their head. They seriously considered hurting other people beforehand, because what would it matter if they were going to hell anyway?

In that post, they argued that what matters isn't the porn, it's the culture around the porn. They recognize that the things they draw aren't acceptable in real life, and they're around other people who also recognize that. For them, it's a coping mechanism to get these things out of their head. But they've seen other communities that normalize unacceptable behavior, and they think that can lead in dangerous directions. (They specifically referenced the creepshot community as creeping them out.)

yeah see, this is why I'm not as worried about pedo/incest stuff as I feel I should be. Like, I don't like it when it's overflowing into the mainstream fandom bc it's not my thing and I don't think it should since it is a relatively niche thing, but it does have a place, especially for those who've suffered abuse and work out their issues with it. Unfortunately, the former's also lead to that "Traumatized Enough" thing that reylo secret mentioned where total strangers grill you on your abuse history and that's not any good either.

Are we talking about the creepshot community on Reddit?

I just think people need to have clear conceptions of consent, I mean, that's what it comes down to. Consenting adults drawing pictures and exchanging them =/= Adult taking picture of minor without consent, or even an adult taking a picture of another adult without consent.

Idk, I don't think it's that complicated a concept.
