Re: CW Rape

Wait....this means that if a woman wants to write about rape, she has to be raped. Because unless a woman has actually experienced rape, she can't understand it.

Shit! That means if someone wants to write about murderers they have to murder someone. IF SOMEONE WANTS TO WRITE ABOUT SOMEONE DYING THEY HAVE TO DIE FIRST!

Brings new meeting to ghost writer.

No wait, doesn't someone have to actually be murdered first before they can write about murder?

Yup. I think that means Stephen King has seen some crazy shit in his life.

Only if they're writing from the victim's point of view. Want to write a ghost story? First you have to die.

I guess that means women who want to write about rape have to hire someone to rape them.

Women do live with rape every day, tho. The threat, the fear, the echos of that violence that surround us everywhere we go. Rape is a part of womens lives in this world. Hence why we have the term "Rape Culture".

Aw, now you're just being over-dramatic. If violence surrounds you everywhere you go, you need to go somewhere else.

Actually, we have the term rape culture because of discussions of men in the prison system and some-one thought it would do more good helping women than men.

Feminists thought it. They stole the term from men.

Feminists thought what?

And no, they stole it from other feminists, because the only people to ever give a fuck about men in prison are feminists.

Bullshit

Quote from OP: "I believe by and large most human experiences are somwhat relatable to everyone with empathy, whether they have lived the experience or not."

Your IF SOMEONE WANTS TO WRITE ABOUT SOMEONE DYING THEY HAVE TO DIE FIRST! spiel is cute, but OP clearly said that they think that "you can't write it if you haven't experienced it" applies only to rape. (Hint: the clue was in the capslock BUT.)

I don't even agree with OP but the lack of reading comprehension sometimes on this comm is so annoying. People are so eager to shit on people they don't even care if the things they object to are things the people they shit on have actually said.
