I get how the others are stupid, but I still find down with cis to be hilarious and anyone who takes it seriously needs to get out more imo.

How, pray tell, is hating people for how they were born "hilarious"?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Down with cis is literally a meme that was created by an openly transphobic user who made up a super ridiculous story about trans people riding around on buses and beating up random cis people on the street in public.
Down with Cis isn't about hating cis people, it's about making fun of people who demonize trans people and make them out to be the bad guy to push their own transphobic agenda. At least that's how I always saw it.
It does literally 0% damage to cis people, meanwhile trans people are actually bullied and killed almost every day.
And before anyone says anything, I'm cis myself and I still find the meme funny.

"It does literally 0% damage to cis people" other than encouraging bullying and turning that bullying into a handwavable punchline you mean.

You want to help trans people, help them. Don't turn it into a hate campaign.

Seems like its easier to encouraging bullying to cis people than donate money/clothes/anything to LGBT organizations / Trans shelters.

im not cis and i think the down with cis joke is so fucking basic and annoying

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Also given the fact that it supposedly came from where anon says it did (a transpobic blogger claiming that trans people attacked them) it's kinda mindbogglingly counterproductive.

A person tried to claim that trans people are violent and will go around attacking cis people wearing shirts that say "down with cis", so let's just reply with "hey down with cis sounds like a good idea". That makes sooo much sense.

it's just...boring, and i've not seen anyone fall back on that joke who wasn't an awkward teen or someone who doesnt know how to ACTUALLY be funny in a way that is unique to themselves as a person. like memes are funny and all but people who actually use them as jokes in their lives are so extra

I misunderstood the "Down with CIS" one at first. I took "down with" to mean "I'm okay with" (old slang), so I thought the shirts were saying "Hey, I'm okay with CIS people".
