Diana Wynne Jones!!!!!

My friend just got me into her. In the past few months I've gone through Hexwood, all of the Chrestomanci books, and Deep Secret, the latter of which is probably my favorite so far but they're ALL amazing. I'm hooked.

She's lending me Howl's Moving Castle next, which I look forward to; I've already seen the Miyazaki movie for it so it'll be interesting to see how it compares.

I have a friend who absolutely hates the movie for the changes it made to Howl's Moving Castle. I never got around to seeing the movie myself, but it looks like you should be prepared for some significant changes going from one to the other. I do love the book though.

Huh. My friend has said that Howl is one of the very few stories she likes equally in book and movie form, and she also appreciates how different they are and reflective of their respective creators' styles. She's also a big fan of Miyazaki overall so that might be part of it.

I don't remember too many deets about the movie so I don't think it will upset me if the book is different.

Reading this made me smile. I still can't believe she's dead.

I've never told anyone this because she's a relatively obscure author (and Derkholm is a relatively obscure series), but Year of the Griffin was the series that made me go back to college and I love it for that. <3

Hope you enjoy her! o/

Thanks! I've never even heard of that series, but I'll have to read it at some point.
