I don't remember them ever saying she was supposed to be his age, only that she knew him when he was younger. Nothing in Hannibal is supposed to be 100% realistic and they play pretty fast and loose with time and space, plus she's an amalgam of Murasaki and Murasaki's maid or something, so eh. I was too mesmerized by her beauty to quibble with any of that, holy shit.

Reading interviews, I learned that she wasn't supposed to be his caretaker. I got confused because of the "cub" and "he came, an orphan" lines but I think it's just fast and loose chronology as you've said with a character who was intended to be a replacement Misha. Now I'm a little embarrassed. :)

Awww, don't be embarrassed, it's confusing, lol. There are lots of things it's hard to know without interviews. They originally wanted Angela Lansbury for Bedelia, for instance, and she's 90 now, so they weren't averse to casting older people. You could say that Chiyoh was speaking more to the history of the family than her own experience, too, or that she was picking up on his childish qualities even when she was a child herself. Or that she's way older than she looks and that living in an abandoned snail castle and taking care of a deranged prisoner is actually really good for you, hahaha.

LOL, that last bit is so this show. :D

IA, she was stunning and had a strong presence. I don't think she was ever supposed to be his age either, but if I was going to worry about nonsensical things in Hannibal this would be near the end of that list.

Plus, even though she was great in the role, she didn't exactly have an abundance of scenes... I was just grateful for what little of her we had.

Yup. The best timespace wackiness is still Abigail sneaking off to Minnesota and back at night without anyone noticing. She really was a murder wizard in training.

Yeah her age did make me confused with how she and Hannibal knew each other. I still don't understand it.

My eyes! I'm amazed I could read that at all. Next time, try font that doesn't match your background, nonny?

Not OP,
I think it looks fine. Is your monitor maybe not super well calibrated for darker colours?

I can't stand her face. I watch a lot of asian movies and the asians on american TV and in US movies look so completely different, probably because of different beauty standards for asians from a "white" pov, it always throws me off... same for Lucy Liu and a few others.
