This. It would've turned into this media circus of a deathwatch. Every paparazzi would be lined up to get shots of a dying rock star, there'd be endless speculation and dissections of his appearance and health. It would've been... unimaginably awful. I've had relatives dying slowly of cancer and other conditions, and even when you have your privacy, you feel terrible and exposed just the same. I cannot imagine opening the paper and seeing regular reports discussing just how much time my grandmother had left, how her appearance DEFINITELY means this or that.

His last album would've been about BOWIE'S LAST ALBUM and not about the music at all. No musician wants that.

Ergh, yes, this. I am SO glad we didn't have to go through that with Bowie.

If a celebrity chooses to make their illness public to help raise awareness for it or something like that, that's fine, I can respect that decision, too. Otherwise, yeah, I'm very much okay with celebrities keeping that stuff private. I don't need to know the details, I don't want to know the details. That's for them and their loved ones to worry about.

:( This makes perfect sense to me. Not many people would want to deal with such a rough battle with their health and all the emotional devastation that can come with that, in addition to being in the spotlight and having people constantly dissect your appearance or every move.

Exactly.
