Really? Because it was pretty clear the previous anon was talking about their own, specific experience:

"I'm beyond tired of seeing that pointless thing on my dash, and I can't even be bothered to block it out. It's not like it's something I am able to actually watch, so when I get posts after posts after posts after posts of nothing but whatever the hell that is, the reaction [i.e. THEIR reaction] is basically "Eeeh... ok?"

I'm not sure how you could possibly interpret that as the anon making a blanket statement about what the fandom means to the world at large. If you weren't ordinarily such a reasonable person, I'd suspect you were being deliberately obtuse just to nitpick.

The fact that they called it "that pointless thing" sounded to me like a value judgement, so I zeroed in on that phrase. I appreciate your faith in me, though.
