what about middle grade books, for when I just don't feel like silly love triangle magic bullshit.

oh wait I don't really care if you judge me....

oooo recommend some middle grade reads! I loved Circus Mirandus and A Curious Tale of the In-Between, but I'm always looking for more no love triangle stories.

Honestly, I'm a little behind (read: about four years behind), but I do like the Ever After High, Star Darlings, and I am casually following this series, the first one is called The Great Greene Heist and the sequel comes out on Tuesday, and I keep meaning to look for and read The Fantastic Family Whipple.

That's okay, I'm just looking for more books to read where it's easy to jump in to the story and I don't have to worry about a love triangle popping up in the middle of the series or knowing that it's automatically going to be a trilogy.

I read Randoms recently and really enjoyed it! It's young protagonist is a scifi geek chosen as one of the representatives of earth to audition for membership in a space federation, and while it has a ton of references it never felt wanky or smug, and indeed had a lot of really great moments and solid characters and prose. Only downside, I thought it was a standalone until like the last ten pages so at the end I was like Vader going nooooooooooooooooooooo.

I know that feeling of realizing at the end it's a series. I'll add it ot the list, it sounds intriguing!

SA

Also, I don't know if they're in print right now, but if you can find Timothy Zahn's Dragonback series I highly recommend them! They're a little simpler than his regular scifi novels, but they still have a great part and some very neat ideas. (Draycos the alien warrior poet who is occasionally 2 dimensional! And who looks like a dragon! And his symbiotic partner, 1 4 year old thief Jack)

I will definitely add those books because I LOVE Zahn's writing. I've read all of his Star Wars books, so now I'll add these.

Just my luck, they have it at the library! I should pick it up as soon as the snow settles, thanks!
