(Anonymous) 2016-01-23 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)I would assume the YA and fanfic reader's tastes are probably more interesting than mine.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-23 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)And I say this as a person who doesn't particularly enjoy YA and doesn't read much fanfic.

I'm beginning to suspect that people between 25 and 45 aren't supposed to read books or something.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-23 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)1. Not everyone leans hard towards literary interests. There are plenty of people who are smart as hell, but who aren't big readers outside of the reading they need to do in order to be well-versed in their field of work/study. Being literary-minded is not some universal measure of intelligence or maturity.
2. Many people work hard all day, and when they are done working they are exhausted and the last thing they want is to spend their minimal free time working their way through a book they don't enjoy.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-23 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)Every single YA book I've ever managed to sit and read though has the same basic plot and characters and boring hetero love triangle. I would imagine it would get dull and repetitive fast.
I know there are some YA books that differ from this formula and are supposed to be really good, but I know it's not the majority.
