You might want to get better at selecting books, then. It takes time, but after you get used to it, it starts to come naturally. I read mostly YA (75% or so I'd say) and I rarely run into any of the awful formulas that YA is known for.

I even kinda doubt you actually read as much YA as you say, since "boring hetero love triangle" is one of the most common criticisms people fall back on when they want to paint all YA with the same tarnished brush without really reading it.
