It's useful to (a) make sure people are aware of its existence (b) educate them on how they might get it and (c) ensure that people have positive connotations with its use.

It sounded less educational and more like one of those "go to your doctor and ask for this brand by name" commercials, which is the part that confused me.

Well it's still an ad they paid to run, they definitely want to emphasize their brand as well.
