This was my OTP in middle/early high school too, but only in a stalker-ish abusive one-sided way from Cartman's end.

I sincerely didn't know people took South Park seriously enough for shipping

I didn't think about it until coming across it a few years ago, but really, it's the internet, anything with an audience has shipping.

And South Park actually has A LOT of ships. Like go look in the tumblr tags if you're brave enough. That Craig/Tweek episode wasn't even a joke, it existed before the episode.

I just mean...the creators themselves barely take the show seriously enough, I suppose I can't imagine getting invested in the kids from SP...

You can ship without taking it seriously or getting invested though.

South Park did an episode about it using fan-submitted yaoi. FS has also had multiple secrets about it over the years.

I think you're deeply underestimating the internet's ability to ship literally anything.

Characters in board games, people in commercials with people in other commercials, Youtubers that have probably never met, LOLcats, etc

I...I really like that ship dynamic too OP.
Sadly, I very rarely see parings like that, I can only think of like, maybe one or two shows besides South Park that has it.
:(

OP (tw rape mention)

(Anonymous) 2016-01-25 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair, a lot of my ships are up to personal interpretation

Like I could get into deep shit for calling a character in one of my past OTPs a sociopath because he has a lot of sympathetic and cutesy moments, and many people write him as a cartoonish exaggerated monster and rapist, which is of course not cool. But honestly, I don't see him as a secretly, genuinely good person, and I like it that way.

If you're looking for recs

Of ships that have a similar dynamic and lots of fanwork, check out Rhys/Handsome Jack from Tales from the Borderlands. Reading your description reminded me of them and if you're interested in finding a new ship, I hope I've helped you out.
