I wiped the dust off of my poor neglected bassguitar that has been standing in a corner the past three(?) years and dug out some tabs. It sounded quite bad, because I suck at finger placement, pressure, etc. My left hand is none too happy, either.

I played violin with the Suzuki method from third grade up to sixth and dabbled a little with my grandparents' piano and a recorder(?) my uncle had when he was a kid. I would like to take singing lessons one day.

So F!S - do you play or want to and what inspired your interest?

Well, I learned piano and violin as a kid, still dabble when I have spare time. recently bought a guitar on a whim and keep meaning to learn to do more than pick at it but have honestly just managed two or three chords, so... yeah, I really should get a schedule about practicing.

Oh god, guitar is my nemesis. The chord thing is just too complicated for me, nor have I been very good at practicing.

I don't play anything, but I've always had an interest in it because - I guess it might be said that I'm musically illiterate? I can't tell the difference between any songs unless they're extremely different (I wouldn't mistake Beethoven for Justin Bieber, obviously), or I recognise them through the lyrics. My kiddie brain used to be absolutely baffled by music because I couldn't begin to guess how people wrote the pieces. I don't think I'll start learning any time soon though. Maybe when I've settled down with a job and have a spot of cash to spare.

Never too late to pick up something new.

I played saxophone for about a year back in primary school. I started because all my friends were in our school's marching band, but I hated it and quit after that one year. I wish I knew how to play it still though, but the entire band experience wasn't for me.

I am fairly decent with a recorder from music class in school and I can play piano with one hand, but I am not coordinated enough to use both. Piano is one I really wish I properly knew though.

Saxophone would've been fun to try, but I would have a hard time trying to get any sound out of it, I'm afraid. My tries at trombone and (side)flute were failiures.

Did you find it easy to learn?

I don't remember it being very hard, but it's been over a decade so I don't really remember. Saxophone is closer to a clarinet though than either trombone or flute, so maybe it would be manageable for you than you think? It was way easier than a sideflute for me at least, as I have never managed to get a sound whenever I tried that, and if I remember correctly you need way less air than with trombone (which I have only tried out briefly a couple of times with my father's old one).

I TRIED. My mother's side of the family are musicians, but i don't think I had the determination to ever get any good.

I used to play the trumpet but it's been many years since I have picked it up, sometimes I want to learn the violin because I love the way they sound(well maybe not at the beginning) but I don't really have the cash for lessons or the instrument.

I played the piano from age 4-14 and then kept it up on my own until I was in my early 20s, and now I've lost so much of my abilities, I get depressed when I try to play.

So, I'd like to actually play the piano with actual skill again.

Besides that, I've always wanted to play the drums.

I only ever learned the recorder in 4th or 5th grade. It's pretty common for US students, at least when I went to school. Singing was more my gig.

If I had the money and drive to learn an instrument, I'd do bass. Mostly because I had fun with it in Rock Band. Don't judge too hard!

Fuck, I forgot to add: what's sad is that my grandpa has this vintage bass guitar at his house, but my sister and brother are fighting over who gets it (and my sister's gonna win that one because she always does).

So I didn't even try to fight for that one. :'(

I played piano and later flute. I quit flute when I was about 15. I mostly realized that my artistic tendencies lie elsewhere (drawing and writing), and I'd rather dedicate my time to those.
If I were to learn another instrument, though, I'd like to learn bagpipes or accordion because they're awesome I guess.

I really wanted to learn how to play the piano and harp when I was younger, but we couldn't afford it. I still want to learn how to play piano. Maybe when I'm a little older and have more money and free time.

I know how to play guitar and violin, but I'm woefully out of practice.

I really should get back into one or both.

I would love to try playing a hurdy gurdy someday.

Are you into early music?

Not especially. It just looks very interesting.

I thought of early music right off because early music ensembles often use one, and if you want to find workshops on hurdy-gurdy playing, they seem to overlap with early music workshops quite often.

I play piano--just recently went back to it after my dad started taking lessons.

I'd like to learn to play early music on tenor and bass recorders.
