OP
I'm very glad too. I'm also very glad I think most if not all of the evidence is long gone. I was a stupid hateful kid saying stupid hateful things and I try to spend a lot of my fandom time now making up for it. I encourage and help and give positive feedback to cosplayers, fanartists, and ficcers.

The only thing I hold as a cosplay rule is if it's an event with small children, don't have your genitals visible. If it's adults only, do whatever.

I think it's great that you've grown so much and gained perspective. I'm not being facetious, I really appreciate it when people talk plainly about mistakes they made in the past, attitudes they've grown out of, regrets, all that stuff.

I'm convinced that even the nicest teenagers did some asshole things. The fact that most of us become better people as we mature is something I find really encouraging.

And yeah, making fun of cosplayers is old hat. It's just that it's more visible now because the issue has been reframed. The public narrative used to be "Of course we make jokes about these people; they're weird," to "OMG stop SHAMING."

Mean to say: and now it's shifted to "OMG stop SHAMING."
