News articles tend to do that with literally... everything. Like I swear every time I read something about "the millenials" it's not something that is actually a new problem but something that has been going on since the dawn of time.

It happens for two reasons, one is that news posts like to be sensationalist so they like to act like something is BRAND NEW and OMG IT'S A HUGE PROBLEM YOU MUST CLICK THIS ARTICLE.

The other reason it happens is people have very short memories and sometimes the younger generation doesn't do it's research on things that have happened before.

Many of those cosplay articles may be clickbait intended to make the problem seem like it's a new thing.

Oh God yes. Remember that Millennial pledge" guy? The one who tried to tell "young people" they had to take his dumb pledge to consider themselves an adult. Then when people mocked it on twitter he wrote another dumb article about how "This is what happens when a generation grows up without spankings"

Criiiiiiiiiiiiiinge.
