But "despicable bratty heroine" and "Mary Sue" are two extreme ends of a rather wide spectrum. Do you honestly not see that? Just because you dislike one doesn't mean you love the other. Maybe there are readers out there who prefer heroines who fall somewhere in between the two extremes.

A Mary Sue is a character who hijacks the plot. They don't have to be a pure angel. That's why "Jerk Sue" is a thing.
