As well as their role of coprophages, thus helping to prevent the build up of fecal matter, dung beetles are also extremely important for maintaining soil fertility and structure. Their removal from an ecosystem impacts not only crop yield, but non-crop species and their supported flora and fauna. Dung beetles are a lot more vital than people think.
