DA but I do think stealing other people's creative content matters. It's like plagiaring a book or tracing over someone else's photo. It's wrong and since it rarely carries legal consequences, it should at least have some form of social backlash.

Generally I do think so. But I don't think jokes are the same. There are often people who come up with the same joke or are inspired by someone else's joke but make something that is their own. I think it is too murky to be able to say that jokes are owned by individual comedians.
