I didn't watch a lot of 90s sf/fantasy, so I can't really compare. I like this show because it's fun. It's not the best writing and season 2 kind of goes to hell in a handbasket (though season 3 is looking much better) but it's still brain candy entertainment for me.

Huh, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen a male character headcanoned as Muslim.

Purgatory being a poorly functioning, incomplete game felt pretty spot on :p

I remember getting to the part in adventure mode where you can change the way your character looks and thinking, "Holy shit, we're in Dante's Inferno territory".

My only quibble is I would have liked the ending to have given a little more resolution with the protagonist. It just felt really abrupt. The unlockable boss was pretty cool though.
