That's because, for a Muslim headcanon for a girl, you can just slap a hijab on the character and call yourself progressive, no matter what other clothing you put her in. To headcanon a male character as Muslim, you have to put a little more work into it.

To clarify, I know that there are other things you should do if you're going to accurately depict a Muslim woman, and "just putting a hijab on her" isn't good enough (re: standards of modesty, i.e. someone in a hijab is likely going to follow other standards, like long sleeves/long pants, etc.).... But That's the attitude I see.

i think these artists have good intentions but it's painfully obvious they don't actually care enough about muslims to learn anything about muslim culture and how diverse it is. it's even more painful because theoretically islam should be very inspiring visually - look at the art, architecture, other clothing, etc.
