I didn't watch a lot of 90s sf/fantasy, so I can't really compare. I like this show because it's fun. It's not the best writing and season 2 kind of goes to hell in a handbasket (though season 3 is looking much better) but it's still brain candy entertainment for me.

Same here :). I just really love the characters on this show, and the way they play with U.S. history and the Sleepy Hollow legend.

You don't like Sleepy Hollow?

Such bad taste. Next you'll be telling me you don't like Xena, or Highlander.

Honey-Pie, I'm not touching you with a ten foot pole.

lol, this :P

Sleepy Hollow is a charming show, lightly sprinkled with cheese. Much as many 90's fantasies were. Maybe that's just not your genre.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-25 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Why the fuck did you watch it?

They told you it was like something you disliked, and then you watched it, and you disliked it because it was similar to things you disliked. What part of this is surprising?

I got the impression OP wasn't aware until Sleepy Hollow that they liked different things about the same shows.

I've tried to go back and re-watch 90's shows. So many of them are so terrible. Things that I loved back then, like Kung Fu: The Legend Continues and Highlander: The Series are just CRINGEWORTHY for me now.

Some things hold up well, like Babylon 5, Brimstone, and Seven Days, but the vast majority of 90's TV was so overacted I can't deal anymore.

Huh, I watched Highlander not so long ago, wasn't too bad. Hercules on the other hand...

Ah, but see, Hercules and Xena actually are still watchable for me, because they never took themselves seriously, they were always too over-the-top already. It's the "serious drama" shows that I look back on and cringe about the most.

For some reason Xena's still ok for me.)

See I liked S1 (never watched 2-) but ou sort of have to accept that it's sort of campy (which indeed a lot of sci-fi used to be). If you take it super seriously, then yeah, I think it will likely suck.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-26 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I have barely watched any of this, but I saw one episode that felt like a poor man's Buffy, so, yeah.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-26 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
See I like those 90s camp shows but for some reason Sleepy Hollow did not hold my interest.

I think there still needs to be something there to get me addicted for me to watch campy stuff now, in the 90s it was boredom factor, now I have too many options with dvds and netflix so it's hard to get me to sit down and watch something if it's boring for an episode or two.

Same here. I was hugely into scifi/fantasy tv in the 90s and religiously watched just about every show that came along. But I was also in grad school at the time and desperately in need of some mindless fun and distraction. I kind of stopped watching the genre entirely once I got my degree. I did give Sleepy Hollow a try when it started but gave up after the first 6 episodes or so as it just couldn't hold my interest despite the wacky premise.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-26 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Sleepy Hollow is awesome and you're wrong and have bad taste.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-26 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed most of the first season, strongly disliked most of the second season and was bemused by what I saw of the third season. I plan on catching up but I'm gearing up to it.
