Have to admit, that's the first I heard of that....but I can kind of see it.

... wait, the "I'm the one who killed him" was a school shooting joke? I thought the son was supposed to have also been an agent who f'd up, so Kylo Ren, well, killed him.

Actually we don't know that he killed them. It's implied because he has the name "Jedi Killer" but nothing has been confirmed. We just know he was the primary cause of it's downfall.

The idea is that he's this entitled white boy who murdered his friends because of social ostracising or dissatisfaction or whatever. I just don't think it works when the script and the novelization makes it very obvious that he's been groomed by a creepy sith master (or whatever the hell Snoke is) since he was a young child.

Matt's treatment in the skit just really put me in mind of a bullied kid though, so it was like I could suddenly see where those people were coming from.

It's implied/shown in limited flashbacks that he killed all of the other New Jedi in training when he was turning to the dark side.

I'm not attracted to Kylo Ren at all, and I only slightly ship Reylo. But still, I can't understand why of all the villains out there, he's the only one that people think you should be ashamed of liking?

I don't give a damn about his characters, I just think he's really unappetizing and dumb with a side of chauvinist. Stupid looking too.

My mind went directly to Kylo Ren = radicalized European teenager defecting to ISIS before school shooter.

That's why the idea of Kylo being redeemed in canon makes me want to puke.

I'm just relieved to see that there are other people who think he's an interesting character. Maybe I'm hanging out in the wrong places, but most people seem to think he's a 'whiny emo crybaby' or *insert Hot Topic joke*. I thought it was cool to see a villain who wasn't sure he wanted to be a villain, usually that's a trope saved for the hero. You know: 'my father was a hero/warrior/king, I'm supposed to follow in his footsteps, but I don't know if I can'.
