OK, that quote's really dumb, and really male. (The original quote is from a man, I think.)

It sounds like the kind of thing the concerned, conservative father tells his sons as a piece of life wisdom so they grow up to marry respectable girls, the implication being the sons can sleep around all they want as long as they don't marry the girls who were willing to sleep with them.

Eh. It also sounds like something single girls/women tell themselves so they can feel better about being single. They're single because they're the good, sweet ones who don't ho around! All the couples they see aren't happy, they're composed of lazy boys and their slutty girlfriends!

It's a terrible message. It's a shame that anyone who's single and unhappy would try to make themselves feel better by pissing on anyone who isn't in the same boat.
