Re: Reality Shows
(Anonymous) 2016-01-25 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)I've only seen snippets of "So You Think You Can Dance", but from what I do know about it, "Dancing" would be fairly different. "Dancing with the Stars" pairs celebrities up with pro dancers and they learn different types of ballroom and Latin dances each week. Some weeks the dances will have themes to them, too (a dance that honors a special time in the celebrity's life, or dances to Disney songs, or a Halloween theme when that holiday rolls around, or whatever).
So far there haven't really been any of my favorite celebrities on there (there have been many whom I do like, I just haven't followed their careers as much), but some people from my mom's favorite soap opera have competed on there, and some people from various 1990s boy bands that my sister loves have appeared on there. Obviously the celebrities aren't really A-list ones, it's usually people who have a niche following or people who had their heyday years ago. But it's still a lot of fun all the same. And I like seeing the dances themselves, and the judges are fun, too.
(Incidentally, this does remind me of a similar show my sister and I did watch years ago called "Skating with the Stars". Similar concept, but obviously not as good as the original "Dancing", and very short-lived. But my sister and I did watch it anyway simply because of how hysterically bad it was :p.)
