They are probably not real and they can't be relied upon. It is really easy for a therapist (or anyone) to convince you that you have uncovered 'repressed memories'

NAYRT - What about people who remember being raped? I know someone who claims a therapist made her remember such a thing.

nayrt, but "According to the American Psychological Association, it is not possible to distinguish repressed memories from false ones without corroborating evidence."

And also "The existence of repressed memory recovery has not been accepted by mainstream psychology,nor unequivocally proven to exist, and some experts in the field of human memory feel that no credible scientific support exists for the notions of repressed/recovered memories."
