Michael and Sam were good friends. Almost like brothers. They're shippable. But you are not entitled to have other people ship what you ship.
You complain that fans who slashify this very straight show don't ship the obvious pair of close buddies at the middle of the show? Why? The text of the show is incredibly straight. They're heterosexual best friends. Canon is not on your side.
Since it's all reinventing the premises anyway, if slashers will ship two guys who fit the slasher's physical type, well, that's what slash is for! It's usually not about representation, and it's not really about an expanded interpretation of canon; it's mostly about lust and kink.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-27 11:02 am (UTC)(link)It's like "*Heavy breathing* They're STRAIGHT. Canon doesn't agree with you! STRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIGHT. HET-ER-OH-SECK-SUAL GODDAMNIT!!!"
What slash fan pissed in your cheerios?
Also lol at the 'canon is not on your side' thing, there was a decent amount of subtext in Burn Notice, Sam and Michael definitely had a bromance going on, enough of one that like OP said, the actors picked up on it. Slash is absolutely about subtext in most cases, and acting like there isn't any subtext to be found here is just making you look like you've got some sour grapes going on.

Again, there's no point arguing with shippers, so I just deleted the giant comment I wrote. Which is sad, because there are now no comments in this thread mentioning Coby Bell and Grant Show's characters. Oh, well!
