I watched Coffin Princess Chaika for Chaika herself. The only other characters who actually grew and changed as part of a character arc were Toru (who bored the hell out of me) and Vivi (who was never a main character per se.) Chaika actively searched for an answer to her questions about her identity, Toru followed her in the hopes that she'd provide him some new purpose for his life, Frederica followed Toru because she was bored and had nothing better to do, and Akane followed Toru because she wanted to fuck him and couldn't get it through her thick skull that he would never be interested.
