(Anonymous) 2016-01-27 07:34 am (UTC)(link)I've replayed that moment from The Husbands again and again, because the way he looks at River is so gentle and radiant and incredibly loving. I adore Capaldi, but I've never seen him play a moment like that. And they filmed it just right - let it unfold at the right pace, allowing both the Doctor and River time for their reactions. And then the way he delivers the line, "Hello, sweetie," is this little piece of sublimity in the midst of a goofy Christmas episode.
I'm also partial to his speech at the end which concludes, "…when you need it most, there is a song." So much emotion.
Oh damn it, whhyyyyyyyy do we have to wait a whole year to see Twelve again?
