MTE. I am so sick of boob armor and pasted on metal shapes. So many character designs these days, especially for games and such, look painfully samey.

Yep, this.

I feel like that's kind of an exaggerated form of the way men's and women's fashion plays out in reality. Men's is sturdier and more functional, but has far fewer opportunities for style, daring, and self-expression.

But I like RL women's clothes. There's so many styles out there.

I hate a lot of character design clothing for women. I don't think the designs are interesting. They could create anything in the world they wanted but somehow always go for the same ol' things.

I don't think there's all that much of a clash between "I wish female characters' outfits were more practical and less fanservice-y" and "I wish male characters' outfits were more interesting and visually distinct".
A lot of people who complain about excessive fanservice just want it to be spread equally, rather than a primarily female phenomenon. (And then there's those who just want to yell at people and feel virtuous about it, but whatever)

While I totally agree with the 'more practical' thing, I am always up for fanservice existing equally. If you're going to do it, cover your bases and have something that appeals to everyone.

For me it's about the shoes. Would you want to run or jump a fence in 3 inch stilettos? Makes me worry for the character that she's going to break a body part during a foot pursuit.

Call me stuck-up but I hate sexualized male characters just as much. It feels like such a calculated, condescending move from the developer's part. Just let me get invested in the actual game and MAYBE LATER look up some smutty doujin if I feel like it.

ECLECTUS PARROTS SO CUTE! I'm not the OP but I can tell why these beautiful birds were used, if anyone is curious--the females are red and purple, and the males are green and yellow.

Regarding the text, I feel the same way at formalwear. Women have all these gorgeous, elaborate outfits, and men have suits. No matter how good a guy looks in a suit, it's still the same suit everyone else is wearing. There needs to be more variety in what men wear, period.
