Is anyone else confused as to what OP actually did?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-28 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
They tried to write fic with a power bottom. People didn't pick up on the fact that the bottom could be the dominant one in the relationship. They tried to make their point to readers two more times and failed both times.

They blame the readers for this for some reason.

But ... powerbottoms who are actually the dominant partner aren't that rare? Or maybe OP is in the wrong fandoms.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-28 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
That confuses me too, because I don't see how people wouldn't 'get it' unless OP is doing something wrong.

Of course, if readers 'don't get it' and the writer's intent is to 'make them get it' then it's automatically the writer's fault to me. Communication failure is happening and it's on the writer, or the one who wants to send the message, to adjust the message to make it go through.

I'm just wondering how OP knew the readers didn't "get it". Did every one of them leave a "I love 'powerbottom character' as a total sub!" review?

I don't quite get that either. Did they get lots of reviews hinting at them 'missing the point', or did their fic just get passed over? Maybe people weren't into it. (Fandom can be very against certain characters topping or bottoming, or being dominant or submissive.)

As I understand it, OP wrote a magnificent commentary on how not to BDSM, and no one understood their masterpiece, so they did it twice more, and the peons continue to overlook OP's brilliance. It's so hard being the only person who knows how to kink, let me tell you internets.

Yeah, I have no idea what the hell they're trying to say.
