Yuck. My fat ass thinks Barbies are supposed to be fantasy, I don't want to see skinny/fat/short shit that looks like ~real life~

I'm curious to know what planet you live on where ~real life~ people look anything like the doll in that pic. She's still super stylized and cartoony and unrealistic, she just has a different body shape from the standard Barbie.

But they still have normal Barbies, too...?

All the Barbies are still cute though. They're still fantasy.

And I always wanted different barbies, I maybe didn't think about the size of them but the fact that the Barbie aisle is essentially the same doll with the same hair and same eyes always bored the shit out of me. Barbie's "friends" didn't come around near enough and Skipper looked the same as fucking Barbie did. So boring.

The fantasy about Barbie for me was always the accessories that involve either practically unlimited amounts of clothes that I'll never get to wear or occupations and hobbies that I'll never get to experience. I don't particularly care what the dolls themselves look like.

+1 I didn't even care for Barbie that much but we had SO many Barbie clothes and accessories, way more then we had for any other toy in the house.
It made it so even though she was not my favorite doll, I still ended up playing with her a lot.

I used to just sit around and put Barbie in different outfit combos all day.

+2

This actually makes me a bit "opposed" to the new Barbies as I would have to buy so many more outfits so all the body shapes would have multiple outfits that fit them, which would make playing with them a lot more expensive.

Which, when you think about it, was probably what Mattel was thinking.

I just wish it'd mean more clothing for older-style dolls though. I miss the late 90s, early 2000s where they had decent lines of clothing packs. Roz could do with a new look.

She isn't fat though. Fat would be if she was as wide as she is tall. She's just got some hips on her.

I want her, I'll find a second bucket and sit her next to Roz.
