What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?

Books? Probably Little House on the Prairie, I loved that series growing up.
And Harry Potter.
I'd want to watch the Disney movies. A lot of the older live action ones and the older cartoons too.
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Star Wars. Star Trek. Babylon 5. Marvel movies. Doctor Who. Read and watch Harry Potter. Buffy when I thought they were old enough.
But not having kids so all of this is moot.

Happy Days is another one that's good.

Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Also whatever they feel like reading, as long as it's appropriate for their age (no porn lol), fairy tales, etc.
Seconding old games like Metroid, Zelda, etc. Gotta prepare them for the 3D stuff when they are older.
And I guess whatever they feel like watching as long as it's not too traumatizing for them. I remember watching tons of horror movies (thanks family) and they scared the crap out of me and I couldn't sleep at night. I enjoy them as an adult, but as a kid it was too much for me.
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
There's also a lot of music I can't wait to introduce them to, and Harry Potter will be so much fun.
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Those were both incredibly big formative influences in my life, and they've influenced the way I communicate.
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Lord of the Rings is the big one, but I also think they'd like Kingdom Hearts. I've tried Portal with a few of the older kids and they seemed to dig it.
Maybe Super Mario 64 and Sonic Adventure.
Oh, and Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Probably Xena and Indiana Jones. They already know Star Wars so that ship has sailed.
Plus some older cartoons. (Animaniacs, Pinky and the brain, etc.)
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Sharon Lois and Bram
Sesame Street
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Harry Potter, Princess Bride, Singing in the Rain, Flight of Dragons, Neil Gaiman, Tamora Pierce, Super Mario Bros., LoTR, anime and manga in general, comic books in general.
Things I got into because of my kids:
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Protip: If your kids show no interest in something you want them to watch or play, don't push. Just sit down and watch it or play it on your own. Get into it. They'll usually wander in and hover at the edges until they get sucked in. Try it two or three times. If they still show no interest, it just wasn't meant to be.
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 04:27 am (UTC)(link)Movies... definitely Studio Ghibli. Star Wars, original trilogy first. The classic Disney animated canon.
For TV, definitely Star Trek. Classic Looney Toons and such.
And video games. I really hope they'd grow up with Nintendo games, both the classics and the later greats. And there might be PC games to share when they're a little older, though I'd definitely have to put some parental controls on my decidedly-not-kid-friendly Steam library, haha. Maybe just a laptop or tablet with Minecraft on it. Kids love Minecraft. I do too.
Re: What media would you most want to show your hypothetical kids?
Star Wars. All of it. Shows included.
Harry Potter. All of it. Legos, all of it.
Animorphs, even if I have to upload those badly done PDFs to a kindle for them to read, I will do it!!
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic because it's awesome.
If Monster High and Ever After High is still around, or some variant of it, then yes.
If it's not dead by then and they are old enough for it, World of Warcraft, as the game itself is pretty ok and fun. I'll just make sure they understand about assholes and shit in chat and guilds.
Dr. Seuss, of course. Bill Nye and Mr. Rogers.
Pokemon as well. But it'll be the newer stuff as I don't think any future kids of mine would really like teh old games. Unless they just happen to like retro. I won't ban them from it, but the newer stuff is better looking and plays faster and yeah.
Other stuff as well, but I'm tired and can't think of anything else right off.
