Oh it doesn't bother me that other people enjoy them. I just can't get past how far fetched it is. Part of it is probably that personality wise I don't fit at all what I'm supposed to be (Cancer), so there was never even a small part of me that considered buying into it.

Yeah, I agree it's nonsense, but I'm fascinated by the systemic nature of it and I enjoy it from an aesthetic point of view quite a bit.

I generally find obsolete cosmological systems and magical theories and things like that really fascinating, though, so

Ah. That makes sense. For me, I don't mind that sort of thing in a fictional world. But my mind is really rational and can't wrap my head around that sort of thing in real life even as a concept.

I can appreciate the complexity of it while recognizing that it's complete trash, really.

But then, I'm a Gemini. ;)

(Or at least I tell people I'm a Gemini for that joke.)

The thing about the zodiac is that it's always 'you are this, you are that' and they're always *flattering* things (unless it's a snarky one), so *of course* people want to say 'oh, yeah, that's me!'.

But as a rule - yeah, no, zodiac descriptors don't really fit me at all, either.

Has anyone ever actually meaningfully tested this, though?

I mean, I'm familiar with the thing where you write an extremely general and vague - but positive - description and ask people if it describes them and they say yes. But has anybody ever tried writing down extremely definite descriptions and giving them out to people and seeing if there are significant differences in whether or not people identify with them? It seems like it shouldn't even be that hard of a study to execute, really.

I...would have no idea whatsoever. :)
