My cousin was unemployed for almost a year, but we still wanted to go to movies and eat at restaurants once in a while. I told him it was 'on me', and at some point when he was back on his feet, he could 'pay back' the favor. It made it so much easier when it was times to pay the check at the restaurants, etc. He always said, "Thank you," and I told him, "Don't worry about it."
He's been employed now for a few months and we went out over the holidays. I figured that he was still working through debt, so I just grabbed the check at the end of the meal. He stopped me and said, "Let me get it. I owe you a couple of dinners." I just told him 'thanks' and that was it.
So, long story leads up to 'tell her you've got the money now' and she can return the favor later. Hopefully she'll not see it as charity, but as a way that you can still hang out and do cool things without having to worry about the money part.

Thank you. I'll tell her that she can return the favor (by whatever means) later.
