I'm totally there for Genos and Saitama too, but Sonic actually caught my attention so I thought I would check out some fandom shit for him...big mistake. Secret!OP isn't even skimming the surface of how bad it is.

I suppose it's like a cross between ukefication and woobifying in Sonic's case. Like he goes from wanting to kill Saitama dead to just really wanting to be a housewife and cute boyfriend to him ~~like Genos isn't already those things~~. It's just generally ignoring the fact that Sonic is a villain and that's a giant part of his character. (He's a freaking assassin for hire, stop with the woobie!)

I actually thought he was female at first, because of that design. Though I agree that he doesn't act that way at all.
It would be cool to have another serious female character in general in OPM, really - there are precious few of them. I wouldn't mind a romance with Sonic, it could be kind of cool, like you say. That said, now I have 0 desire to read any fics about him :X

That was actually something I liked about him, so this secret resonates with me. I liked that he's a feminine looking character, but he doesn't have any of the trappings of flamboyancy that many femme looking characters get, especially femme villains. So seeing fandom essentially pulling one of those "the point, you missed it" memes en masse drives me insane.

I never thought about him having a female love interest or partner in crime before, but...now I kinda want it, and I'm sad none exist.

As someone who has read some fics...do avoid. The last one I need to scrub from my memory is Sonic putting on some leggings and high-heels and a lace teddy and destroying his asshole with a giant dildo while fantasizing about Saitama.

Lol except it isn't even really "shipping" in this case, I think I've seen more pictures of Sonic in women's clothing and very typical ukefied headcanons than I've seen people actually shipping him. They just tend to default to the nearest two guys in the vicinity for shipping, which is Saitama and/or Genos (sometimes there's a threesome, which is very reminiscent of "all the physically hot guys get together", but eh whatever). I'm not secret OP either, just someone passing through. I agree with Secret OP however, all this crap is very OOC, and when you just want some in-character fan shit about a character you like, it sucks to slog through a bunch of stupidly OOC crap to get to it.

yeah, the fandom is pretty standard anime. fanon's character readings are fairly stereotypical.

Absolutely. Which is weird because much of the way he gets sexualized is in a way that is very typical of men in anime. The poor guy gets his balls handed to him, almost literally, and he ends up naked and fighting, something we saw happen to Saitama in basically the same way a couple episodes prior.

My favorite thing was when the fandom was headcanoning him as a trans guy (yes, trans guy, not girl) as soon as he appeared in the anime. You know, the appearance where he got accidentally punched in the balls and it was animated in such close, clear slow motion detail that you could see the bulge ripple under his clothes.

what's it like still thinking fandom is like how it was in 2002

This isn't a jab at you OP, but I hate it when people act like a character having a masculine personality or being powerful somehow means that he can't have 'uke' characteristics in certain situations. I hate the uke stereotype and all the baggage that comes with it, but some people get defensive to the point that if you draw or write a certain uke-stereotyped male character bottoming or dare make him uncertain/shy/submissive even for a split second, you're somehow condemning him to uke hell.

I don't really think that's the case in this situation though. Sonic is a villain, and he's pretty much psychotic, like it would be OOC to have him being this ukefied, weeping handmaiden, which tbh is something I agree with secret!OP on, fandom does this a lot. I'd even venture to say it would be OOC to see Sonic in a way that is emotionally vulnerable. The only vulnerable thing the poor guy has about him are his testicles, which Saitama accidentally knocks into his throat.

I could dig him having a girlfriend or female partner in crime, that'd be cool.

There's a character with that face in One-Punch Man? Suddenly I want to start watching it again....

I was getting confused because he looked masculine grinning like that, but his character sheet was sorta androgenous looking.
