X-Files made "FBI agent" my number one dream job since the age of 12. I still haven't grown out of that and when I saw the J. Edgar Hoover building in Washington DC two years ago, I couldn't contain my glee. Hannibal has only made this condition worse. So I feel you, OP. If only, if only...

There are a fair number of characters in Japanese media who a): were born with penises, b): are attracted to men, and c): don't strictly identify as male or female. (Fire Emblem from Tiger and Bunny is a fairly representative example.) American viewers often interpret these as offensive stereotypes of gay men, but I think that's unfair. If real people can refuse to be boxed into male or female, surely fictional characters can be afforded the same privilege?

Wow. Literally today I was talking to my sister about how I was so surprised that his character seemed so universally liked in all of the corners of the Undertale fandom I've experienced. Cause I love him as a character and understand his motivations but usually characters who kill children are a lot more controversial. Which he is apparently.

I'd be a liar if I said I hadn't seen shit like that. It's the incredibly obnoxious part of liking manga. I wish people would just chill. Most of the comments on reader sites sound like they were written by hateful, ignorant four year olds.

I agree with this so much. It seems like it is automatically assumed that the man will be the more dominant one even in a vanilla relationship. You can only get a woman in charge if it is full on BDSM, usually with a leather clad dominatrix. I'd love to see more vanilla relationships where the man was more vulnerable and the woman was the slightly more dominant partner without it veering into BDSM territory. Also more experienced woman/inexperienced man romances would be nice.
