I agree that the most common reason for hating a female character is that she gets in the way of a slash pairing. However, the way people go about expressing their hatred for said character is often still misogynist as hell.

Not that taking a misogynist attitude towards a fictional character is The Worst Thing Ever and automatically makes you a horrible person. It's not and it doesn't, and people need to get some perspective if they're making those kinds of judgments about another person with so little to go on.
