Yeah, I think profiling is a really interesting business-it fits into my whole thing of, "Why do people do the things they do?" and trying to understand the mindset of a criminal is important for all sorts of reasons.

But some of the things those people see on the job, some of the criminals they have to talk to...eeesh. I hear about the real life stories and am just like, "Nooooope." I admire people who do that work for a living, though-I think that's one of those sorts of jobs you have to REALLY have a passion for in order to do it for a living, and be able to somehow deal with some of the horrible things you see and hear as a result.

Yeah, heck...I can't even watch too much Criminal Minds at any one time (I watch it on netflix and usually a few episodes in a row...still haven't finished it yet) because it's just like "people are horrible" overload.

When I first got into that show, I'd had a few episodes saved on the DVR to watch on a day off from work.

Somehow I managed to wind up having recorded quite a few episodes dealing with cases of children going missing or being killed, and after watching a few of them, I was like, "...yeah, time to go watch something happy now."

I do like that show, but indeed, it's very tough to watch-sure, these stories are fictional, but it's a disturbing reminder that these sorts of crimes and people are out there in the real world and they do use real life cases for story inspiration. I relate very well to Garcia's squeamish reactions to a lot of the cases the team works.
