I find this one even more annoying.

Mostly because it seems that the majority of fandoms with situations like that (that I've been in) almost never seem to have fic based only off the original whatever, and all those that do are swiftly "corrected" by some reviewer and then often wind up trying to follow the side material anyway in response.

It's not even that I hate all interviews etc. by default, just that I miss seeing fans doing creative things with the original source rather than trying to make everything as extended-canon-compliant as possible.

I might just have been in a lot of shit fandoms though.
