Overly understanding characters. Like, if one character is keeping a secret (usually they're gay or trans or have some kind of illness) and it comes out, invariably the other characters are like "why wouldn't you tell us that? Listen, you know you can tell us anything, right?" And it's not exactly infantilizing, but it's something kind of like it.

I'm just saying, where are the people who are pissed off about being kept in the dark? Where are the people who are frightened or unsure of what to do or say with this new information? Why does it ALWAYS read like some sort of hippie-dippie instructional video on dealing with your problems?

I hate that I'm here so late, because I'd really like some confirmation I'm not the only one who knows what I'm talking about.

This is also late, but I totally get you. I know why these types of fics get written, but aside from what you mentioned people so often don't consider characterization when writing them.
