Re: What being a wo/man means
Being a woman means that you've been cursed by God for being gullible. Being a man means you've been cursed by God for being conformist.
I bet you can't.
I don't see why you'd think it would be an especially difficult task.

Nothing that I said was about dictating behaviors. So, not based on gender roles.
Re: What being a wo/man means
(Anonymous) 2016-02-07 02:02 am (UTC)(link)Now personally, I don't consider gullibility or conformism particularly gendered anyway, but then I also don't agree that's what Adam and Eve were cursed for, respectively. They are depicted as gullible and conformist, but the implication isn't that they're cursed for being so. Rather, they're cursed for being knowing, and disobedient. The behave disobediently and become knowing because they are gullible and conformist, but it's the former and not the latter traits they are actually cursed for. And since Eve disobeys first, becomes knowing first, and is cursed with all the same burdens Adam is cursed with plus some, it sets up being "knowing" and disobedient as flaws that women are more vulnerable to than men, and which are worse when committed by women than men. Sounds like gender role BS to me. *shrugs*
I know I can't out-debate you at religion. It's one of your things, and it's not one of mine. I interpret the text based on nothing but the text, whereas any religious person is bound to bring a metric fuckton of extra stuff to the table which they will feel is absolutely necessary to an accurate understand of the text. And that's...yeah, I'll pass. But whatevs. It's good for a bit of fun now and then.
