Define what being a woman/man means to you without mentioning physical attributes or gender roles in society.

Being a woman means that you've been cursed by God for being gullible. Being a man means you've been cursed by God for being conformist.

I bet you can't.

I don't see why you'd think it would be an especially difficult task.

Every time I think you couldn't possibly be worse than Dethtoll you prove me wrong.

Don't you think you can do better than that manchild?

Why do people dislike dethtoll? I've never gotten bad vibes from him.

Because he's a sexist neckbeard shitlord who's driven someone to attempting suicide and has joked about raping and murdering a teenage girl. He also thinks he's smarter than anyone else because he reads the "RIGHT" kind of comic books.

tl;dr he's an awful person with an inflated ego, I'll take Herpymcderp over him any day, ableist name and all.

oh, you crazy stalker you. still have your old Dethtoll shrine I see. and I see you're building more shrines right next to it. do you lick your fedora every night?

Oh god wtf. I did not post this, in case anyone is about to pin it on me.

Dethtoll is a jackass who takes comic books and atheism way too seriously, but unless you can provide concrete evidence that he's ever driven someone to suicide or joked about being a murdering rapist I will continue to doubt those dubious claims.

And your obsession with him is really creepy, just so you know,

What issue do you take with a Bible-based analysis of the binary genders? It's as valid a lens to examine them through as any.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
A-are you trolling? Of course it's not a valid lens.

Why isn't it?

Re: What being a wo/man means

Because the Bible is the worst piece of epic fiction ever written. If you're gonna base your view of gender on made-up bullshit, at least pick something decent. Like the Wheel of Time series or some shit.

Well, the Bible is the piece I picked to analyze it with. You're welcome to give us a Wheel-of-Time view of gender if you'd like. Personally, I just couldn't get into that series. I could do ASoIaF or The Dark Tower views, but I'd have to re-read those series.

Shut the fuck up, the Hebrew bible is awesome and full of badasses like Samson and David and Elijah.

The Christian bible sucks, tho.

Wait, "analysis"? I thought it was a joke.

It's a humorous analysis, but still an analysis, I think.

Blitzwing says some pretty asinine stuff sometimes but I read this as a joke and I think you need to chill.

Hasbro. I'll never recover from Transformers: Animated being cancelled without a fourth season.

Not sure why you consider biblical gender roles to be exempt from being considered gender roles. They're some of the older arbitrarily constructed gender roles still acting on us today, in fact.

Gender role: A gender role is a set of societal norms dictating what types of behaviors are generally considered acceptable, appropriate or desirable for a person based on their actual or perceived sex.

Nothing that I said was about dictating behaviors. So, not based on gender roles.

Re: What being a wo/man means

(Anonymous) 2016-02-07 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Being gullible and conformist are behaviors, though. Like, if you don't actually behave in a gullible or conformist way, then you really can't be said to be gullible or conformist.

Now personally, I don't consider gullibility or conformism particularly gendered anyway, but then I also don't agree that's what Adam and Eve were cursed for, respectively. They are depicted as gullible and conformist, but the implication isn't that they're cursed for being so. Rather, they're cursed for being knowing, and disobedient. The behave disobediently and become knowing because they are gullible and conformist, but it's the former and not the latter traits they are actually cursed for. And since Eve disobeys first, becomes knowing first, and is cursed with all the same burdens Adam is cursed with plus some, it sets up being "knowing" and disobedient as flaws that women are more vulnerable to than men, and which are worse when committed by women than men. Sounds like gender role BS to me. *shrugs*

I know I can't out-debate you at religion. It's one of your things, and it's not one of mine. I interpret the text based on nothing but the text, whereas any religious person is bound to bring a metric fuckton of extra stuff to the table which they will feel is absolutely necessary to an accurate understand of the text. And that's...yeah, I'll pass. But whatevs. It's good for a bit of fun now and then.
