I understand what you mean, OP. And people saying that the direct comparison has never been made are missing the point... yeah - I've seen some people here talk about SU like it's more of a 1). kid's show (as opposed to a family show - I know, I know, adults who like cartoons throw out the 'family show/movie!!' excuse all the time to justify their interests, but, lbr, the fact is that SU clearly has a wider age range in mind than TTG) and 2). is bright and flashy and therefore somehow incapable of having arcs and character development alongside plot-and-moral-of-the-week episodes.

Sidenote that I do enjoy TTG occasionally, but it's the kind of show that you can stop in halfway through the episode, catch episodes out of order, etc, and you'll still have a lot of fun. SU is best enjoyed in order and by watching full episodes. It's also the kind of show that you have to invest in - the first few episodes are not indicative of the overall experience. This has some obvious negative consequences, but does not detract from it's quality as a show; and, clearly, mean that the show isn't for everyone. Neither format is better/worse, but acting like SU is comparable to TTG in these respects is ridic.
