I know next to nothing about anime/manga fandoms of any kind, OP, so I can't really speak to that. But I have encountered the same basic tropes you describe plenty of times in several of my live-action TV fandoms, and yeah, I side-eye that shit so hard.

You've got plenty of company, is what I'm saying. Lots of people feel the way you do, just maybe not in your particular corner of the internet. :)
