(Anonymous) 2016-02-07 01:04 am (UTC)(link)I've started doing that recently. Revisiting books that I absolutely loved and really studying what the author is doing and how they're doing it. It's so much fun!
Old drafts are the best. Makes you wonder why the author changed a particular thing. The original draft of LOTR was a very different beast, for example.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-07 01:02 am (UTC)(link)I'd love to find out more about the very very ancient religions, as well. Stuff that predated the Greek/Roman/Norse stuff. Also Aztec mythology - man, that's crazy.
It's also cool when you see recurring figures in myths and folklore that sort of crop up in different countries.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-07 12:13 am (UTC)(link)Anything in particular, anon? Folk practices, witchcraft, occult stories, cults?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-07 01:00 am (UTC)(link)I also love conspiracy theories, like that whole "lizard people David Icke" thing. That, and UFOs.
I don't actually believe in any of it, I just find it really interesting to read about.
At the moment I'm reading a little about Theosophy, and how you can link that to modern-day Wicca. It's kind of hilarious to me reading about the old fascination white Western people had with Eastern mythology, and how they coopted it - see Aleister Crowley etcetera, the big fascination with Egypt - and how you can STILL see people doing it today. Fluffy bunnies are not a new thing!
