Re: Is f!s liberal?

If you accept the existence of a basic linear spectrum from right to left in politics, F!S is to the right of fandom while still being significantly leftwards of society in general and the political mainstream.

'Liberal' is wayyyy too ambiguous of a word to use outside of specific contexts

I am pretty sure when you factor in 4chan and stuff like gamergate we are not to the right of fandom.

Well, I guess it depends what you mean by fandom, then.

should have reduced more degrees of linguistic uncertainty tbh

4chan's probably moderate or liberal sans /pol/ and /r9k/ honestly

Eh, I don't go around there much anymore but my sense is that the /pol/ and /r9k/ stuff has largely infiltrated its way into most of the boards by now.

I mean there's obviously conservatives and bigotryt on 4chan, but I think people make it out to be more radical right that it actually is and mistake sjw pushback (sjw here meaning people who use social justice as a means to bully just so we're clear) for anti-left retort. The userbase is more diverse than people make it out to be, at least.

One of the problems is that it's genuinely hard to distinguish pushback against SJWs being dicks with pushback against social justice politics. Just in general. I think there are plenty of people who use the first kind of rhetoric in the service of legitimately bigoted policies.

What I would say about the site, the last time I used it, is that most of the people who are very political are right-wing one way or another. There are people who are apolitical in general, or who don't post on 4chan in a way that's political, but to the extent that the site has a political viewpoint, it's pretty exclusively either right-wing or libertarian. And I would argue that the pushback against SJWs is strongly informed by that ethos, at this point.
