Hm... maybe? I don't think so, though. I think he's just the sort of person who wants to make everyone happy and a peace, and does it awkwardly.

I'd see... literally everyone as being on the autism spectrum before Chris, actually! (Okay, not literally, but there's so many characters you could make that argument for. Ron has issues with empathy. April's pseudo-nasty personality is implied to be a cover. Leslie exhibits signs of OCD and tends to fixate on things.*)

*I'm not trying to offend anyone on the spectrum. I KNOW these aren't "surefire" signs. I'm just saying that if we're going to diagnose someone based on generalizations...

I don't know, I can definitely see Chris before Ron-- Ron's empathy issues don't strike me as being autism-related, though if a fellow person on the spectrum identified with him, I wouldn't really argue against it, either. In fact, I think one of the great things about the show is how, depending on what your personal set of traits are, you could headcanon just about everyone as being on the spectrum. It's nice to have so many characters to identify with.

Chris' awkward attempts at keeping everyone happy actually strike a chord with me as an autistic person, because while I did not develop emotional 'language' in a typical way, I had the desire to make others happy. I wasn't good at it, but I wanted people to get along, and knowing intimately what it was to be depressed, I very keenly wanted to... I guess, protect people from that kind of feeling?

There's just something about Chris that I find really easy to identify with in a way that I cannot separate out from my autism. Seeing captioned gif sets of his character was one of the things that got me started watching Parks and Rec.
