Some of the Holmes stories really weren't that well-done. I've seen some writers poke some serious holes in Conan Doyle's stories, and it's pretty obvious to anyone expert in American history that, for example, the Ku Klux Klan was not named for a "fanciful resemblance to the cocking of a gun".

All that being said, Watson was ahead of his time in insisting that Holmes's cocaine dependence was not a good idea, and Holmes himself in ridiculing American fascination with guns is somewhat amusing.

HDU RUIN MY FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MYTH. thanks to Sir Arthur, i spent years convinced that this was the truth. I thought it darkly fascinating. (mind, I was in a cultural context that was very far removed from the American one, and I didn't associate Ku Klux Klan with the reality of violent racism. It was just a Random Mysterious Criminal Organization to me.)

Also, the Mormons don't have ninjas at their disposal, snakes aren't trainable, and >50% of deaths in Victorian England were not caused by mysterious score-settling figures from Britain's various unfortunate colonies.

Yeah, that's what you want us to think. Mormons definitely have ninjas.

I need a movie about Mormon ninjas. Possibly a series.
